Whitening and
other dental
aesthetics

An essential element of beauty and self-confidence, your smile is one of the focal points of your face. Your mouth plays a major role in communication and health.

Regular dental hygiene is the key to good oral and dental health and greatly contributes to self-confidence. Regular removal of dental plaque prevents the development of bacteria that are responsible for gum inflammation (gingivitis) and keeps your teeth smooth, white and sparkling.

With a few good habits anchored in your daily life and regular appointments with your hygienist or dentist, you can maintain a radiant smile and beautiful teeth. Our dental hygienists will share healthy tips with you to keep your teeth white and your gums healthy.

If you want to brighten the shade of your tooth enamel and benefit from whiter teeth, have professional teeth whitening! If you have questions about our various whitening techniques, ask your dental hygienist or dentist for advice. Oral health professionals do not recommend the use of ‘home’ treatments.

Below, you can discover the various teeth whitening techniques offered at our Adent clinics.

WHITENING

A bright, white smile thanks to our personalised whitening.

The natural colour of teeth, which ranges from orange to grey, passing through yellow and white, is specific to each individual. It depends on the effect of mineral salts in dentin (the tissue located beneath tooth enamel). Contrary to conventional thought, a yellow tooth is a well mineralised tooth that is more resistant to cavities. On the other hand, translucent, opalescent teeth are poorly mineralised teeth that are often sensitive to acid attacks responsible for cavities. Thanks to our professional products, we offer you specialised teeth whitening that guarantees visible results and which are gentle for teeth and gums. The basic principle of teeth whitening is the use of hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide in gel form. The gel applied to your teeth will react on contact with tooth enamel, penetrate into the tooth structure and change the shade of the dentin.

Devitalised teeth can also be whitened thanks to internal whitening performed by the dentist. A small opening is made on the back of the devitalised tooth and the whitening product is introduced directly into it.

Before the start of treatment, a dentist must check and certify your teeth for the absence of tartar, loose teeth, cavities or other diseases to avoid any complications that could occur during the whitening treatment. These treatments are not recommended for pregnant women, heavy smokers or teenagers under the age of 18. Their teeth are not mature and the roots are still open and sensitive. You should also take into consideration that dental crowns and composites (commonly called ‘fillings’) do not whiten. If they are located on back teeth, whitening can be performed without any problems. However, if they are on front teeth, they will have to be changed after teeth whitening and adjusted to the new tooth colour.

Our professional teeth whitening techniques:

  • Philips Zoom®: whitening at home. Use of a whitening gel and customised trays, created by our Adent3D laboratory.
  • BlancOne®: whitening at the dentist. Use of a lamp and whitening gel, applied by our dental hygienists.

Ask your dentist or dental hygienist for advice to find the method most suitable for your needs.

There are a few precautions to take before starting teeth whitening… As a reminder, healthy teeth without tartar or tooth disease are essential before starting whitening treatment.

If you do not like the colour of your teeth, if you dream of having a smile like Julia Roberts, we have a piece of advice for you: do not use DIY methods such as brushing your teeth with lemon juice or baking soda. Use of these ‘home’ methods for whitening your teeth are not recommended by specialists. In effect, our teeth are alive. They evolve and their natural colour depends on several factors, both internal and external. If you want to whiten your teeth, first talk to your dentist or dental hygienist and get some professional advice.
